Children’s messages during a Sunday morning service are a wonderful tool for introducing children to biblical truths, stories, and applicable godly wisdom. I’ve had adults share with me time and time again how they enjoy the children’s messages as well, not only because children are cute and sometimes say the most incredible things, but also because they are learning right along with the children. 

Over the years I have incorporated various techniques and methods in teaching and preaching to these precious young church members. Object lessons, What’s in the Bag, and even having them bring a surprise object in a bag are just a few examples. The one I have used the most is an A to Z method. It is where you work your way through the alphabet with biblical topics such as people, places, actions, plants, or animals. It also serves as a review for each of the 26 weeks as you go from “ark” to I Am” to “Zephaniah.” We’ve even done it with songs. I find that people, young and old alike, are thinking about and considering what will come the next week. 

When I heard that Leslie Hall’s book Jesus A-Z was being published, I knew exactly how I would use it. God’s Word wonderfully brings out Jesus’ names and who He is. I would encourage you to consider using this great resource. Thank you, Parish Ed, for publishing such an excellent book that can be used to point our young, teen, middle-aged, and elderly members to Jesus! We’ve given a copy of Jesus A-Z to each family in our church with children and also have books on hand to give to families who visit. To God be the glory as there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved!
